googlepocalypse

If you, like me, use Google Reader to keep up with your blogs, you've probably already navigated to Feedly, or Bloglovin, or something else.  I just wanted to mention there's another option that a friend pointed me to, called Old Reader, which is a clone of Google Reader and handles similarly. I was particularly happy that I could use it to customize my blog roll, and not be forced to use alphabetical order, which is what Feedly does.

Well, enough with the tech talk, here's some plants that are blooming for me right now.

I love this straight out of the iphone shot, and on top of that, I am in LOVE with this plant.   This is the canna I received as a passalong back in November, Panache, and its gorgeous.  I love it so much.  Its by my other canna that's on the other side of the urn, which is a Phasion which is giving me some gorgeous orange blooms now, but I don't have a picture of them yet. I'm debating growing a Pacific Beauty behind the urn, but maybe that will be too much?

Here's a death row rescue, I bought this hydrangea at Lowes for a dollar on the sale table.  I can't remember the type of hydrangea it is though, any guesses? I really should be better at writing down my plant info, since that's the whole point of the blog.

  1. Thanks for the tip on Old Reader. I need to deal with this sooner rather than later at this point and now it seems my procrastination has been rewarded.

Love the canna, the hydrangea is pretty and I wish I could grow them but it is just too hot here.

If giving out detailed plant info is the whole point of a blog, then I've got a problem as I am not so good at keeping track since so many of my plants are passalongs.

    1. Shirley, I thought the same thing when I migrated all my stuff over from google reader to feedly with one click, and feedly wasn't bad, but I couldn't manually organize my blogs, which I really like to do.

I started this blog not thinking anyone would ever visit it, but more as a way to keep track of what I've done. Anytime I get a comment, I'm always so surprised! I need to go back and fix all the dead picture links from waay back, but so far I haven't found the level of boredom needed to make that a priority.

While I hate to give up hydrangeas, there's so much you can grow in San Antonio, and I wouldn't mind the 75-80 degree days in January either ;)
      Thanks for visiting!

  2. Jen, I like your canna picture much better than the one you linked to at Plant Delights! That peachy color is one of my very favorites. And, I like that you got such a nice pic with your phone! I'm in love with my iPhone camera. I've almost quit using my SLR entirely. I keep thinking I'll get back to it and actually take some time getting better at photography, but for now, it's just not happening. I'm glad phone cameras have improved so dramatically over the years.

    1. Hah, thanks, I like the picture a lot, but it *was* a just opening bloom, so the PDN picture is probably more accurate. And I'm just like you, I haven't used my SLR in a while, and I hate it! But its so much easier to use my iphone, and has made blogging a lot easier too.
